Sarah Di Iorio (she/her) is a dancer, choreographer and educator. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2018 from Toronto Metropolitan University, graduating with distinction. During her final year in school, Sarah was selected to create two full length works that premiered in the University’s first ever Springworks show. She was also the recipient of the Nadia Potts Heart and Soul Scholarship Award, an award given to a fourth year student who has shown genuine passion, drive, and leadership in the arts. Alongside her University training, Sarah has trained with ProArte Danza, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and in Kenny Pearl’s Emerging Artist Program, where she connected with a variety of artists and choreographers from around the world. In 2017, Sarah spent a month abroad in Greece, taking part in the creation and performance of a show that premiered on the islands of Hydra and Poros.

Sarah has danced with Red Sky Performance since 2019 in their Dora-Award winning work; Trace, and has had the privilege of performing this work with the company at the Canadian Museum of History, Festival Des Arts De Saint-Sauveur, and at the Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival. Sarah has spent majority of 2021/22 touring this show with the company throughout Canada and the United States. Other recent performances of hers include; a duet created by Angela Blumberg for Din of Shadows 2022 show, performing as a soloist in Canadian Stage’s “Dance in High Park Series”, and dancing in Little Pear Garden Dance Company’s newest full length show “Spectrum of Connection”, in the Fall of 2023. She is set to begin rehearsing with Little Pear Garden for a new project in 2024, and continue to tour their current full length work throughout the year as well.

Sarah’s choreography has been seen professionally in the Fall for Dance North Festival, ABD’s first ever DaCo Residency, Cawthra Parks Springfest Show, Toronto MetropolitanUniversity’s performance of “The Penelopiad”, and the premiere of “Impromptu” at the Parodos Festival. She has also worked alongside Theatre Oculus, choreographing and assisting in the creation of their Fringe Festival dance film “Venus and Adonis”.

Since graduating, Sarah has worked alongside Kenny Pearl as his demonstrator and assistant at Toronto Metropolitan University and the School of Toronto Dance Theatre. She has always had a passion for teaching, and passing on her knowledge and love for the arts. She has taught students of all ages at multiple studios across the GTA. Sarah spent a week in Peterborough teaching and choreographing at One Earth, a week long summer intensive. She is also a returning guest teacher and choreographer for students at the prestigious arts high school, Cawthra Park. Sarah was thrilled when she was offered a position to teach adult dance classes at the Toronto Metropolitan University Recreation Centre. Although teaching those older than her called for a shift in her usual class set-up, she still approached the adult classes with the same goal as she did for her younger students; to create a safe and positive environment for everyone. She works hard to find ways for all of her students to feel comfortable in order for them to grow to their full potential as artists.
